Public Health Professionals Praise HealthLINC’s Contributions
San Jose, CA, and Bloomington IN, May 18, 2009 –– HealthLINC, a health information exchange (HIE) committed to improving patient care in Southern Indiana, has been playing a novel and important role in public health communication using Axolotl’s Elysium Exchange solutions. HealthLINC is actively assisting the Monroe County Health Department in their efforts to keep the medical community informed and updated on the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu). HealthLINC is the only HIE in Indiana utilizing its capabilities in an emergency communication capacity such as this.
HealthLINC is able to provide their entire HIE with outbreak alerts via clinical messaging capabilities. HealthLINC, powered by Axolotl’s Elysium Exchange solutions, enable the local health department to inform and update the medical community with detailed information in a secure and efficient manner.
“HealthLINC provides a secure link, which allows the flow of much more information than is permitted in less secure environments,” said Todd Rowland, MD, Executive Director of HealthLINC. “With the secure link, we can offer personal health information and a more precise analysis of local cases. This type of information – which provides physicians and hospitals with the comprehensive facts needed to make the best decisions for their communities and patient – would not be appropriate to share via unsecured email or public web sites. This data can be extremely important in making the best decisions for our citizens during public health emergencies.”
